Dr. Sonja Rauner

Since August 2025, Dr. Sonja Rauner has served as General Representative, Chief Information Officer, and Chief Operating Officer (CIO and COO) of Helaba. She is responsible for the Information Technology and Operations divisions, as well as the CIO/COO Office.

Dr. Sonja Rauner studied mathematics at the University of Bonn, where she worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Applied Mathematics from 2001 to 2005 as part of her doctoral studies. In 2005, she joined the global banking giant HSBC, where she held various leadership positions in the areas of transformation, operations, and transaction banking. Among other roles, she served as Head of Operations at HSBC Germany from 2019 to 2022 and as Managing Director of HSBC Service Company Germany GmbH (2020–2022), and most recently as Head of Operations at HSBC Continental Europe (2022–2025).
